Impersonate a Confident Person and Become More Confident in Yourself

Can you impersonate a confident person and become more confident in yourself?

It’s a slightly different twist on the idea of “fake it until you make it.” And it actually has some merit.

In today’s video, Ed Mylett tells Jamie Kern Lima about how he went from impersonating the “not good enough” person that others had labeled him as … and who he had become conditioned to believe he was … to impersonating the man he wanted to be instead.

Who Do You Want to Show Up As?

He asked himself this question:

What would I need to believe about me that would serve me … that would make me change the way I show up in the world?

And what Eddie Spaghetti realized when he asked himself that question was that the insecure, shy guy that he was showing up as wasn’t really who he was at his core.

Further, he realized if he was doing an impersonation of that guy who didn’t serve him, he also could impersonate who he wanted to be instead.

And so can we!

We, too, can choose to stop believing the labels that others (and we ourselves!) have put on us. We can choose to show up as the better, more confident, version of ourselves that we want to be.

Become the Confident Person You Want to Be

Think of it as “practicing” to be that person.

With enough practice, it becomes easier and more comfortable to BE that person.

So, yes, I believe you can impersonate a confident person and become more confident in yourself.

You just have to fake it (practice) until you make it. And remember that practice makes perfect.
